Brian Dombrowski is a passionate diver and photographer
from Sarasota Florida. Brian first started diving with a camera
in 1989. Since then, he’s made hundreds of dives using film
and video to capture the natural history of Florida's coastal waters,
Florida's underwater caverns, and the Dry Tortugas. “I can’t
remember the last time I made a dive without taking some kind of
camera with me.” says Brian.
Brian’s images have appeared in magazine
ads, newspapers, corporate publications, and in local Florida art
shows. He’s shot underwater video for Captain
Ron’s Ocean Explorer, a Florida sport diving TV series
airing on Sunshine Network in April of 2004, and for television
documentaries produced by Mote Marine Laboratory of Sarasota Florida.
Brian currently shoots underwater video using
both the Sony VX1000 in an Amphibico housing and the new compact
Sony PDX10 in a USVH housing. The PDX10 is a pro 3-chipDVCAM that
shoots native full-resolution 16:9 wide screen digital video. “For
true 16:9 wide format digital video, this is the next best thing
to HD underwater.” says Brian.
For still photography, Brian shoots 35mm film
using a Nikon N90s, Ikelite SLR housing, Ikelite strobes, and Fuji
film. His favorite lenses are the Nikon 20mm, 60mm, and 105mm AF
D-type lenses.
Brian is a certified NSS-CDS cavern diver
and a TDI advanced nitrox and decompression diver. He considers
himself blessed with a wonderful wife, Robyn, who also loves diving,
and a beautiful, fun-loving daughter named Dara.
For those looking to improve
their underwater photography skills,
Brian recommends Marty Snyderman's online underwater photography
courses. As a former student himself, Brian testifies that
these comprehensive courses are invaluable if you want to
increase your yield of satisfying images. You take the courses
online at your own pace and on your own schedule.
